Wade
is the oldest son in the original musical family,
The Spencers. He began singing when he was eight
years old, playing guitar and mandolin at age
eleven, and recorded his first album at age
fourteen. Wade has written and recorded numerous
songs for the Spencers for many years, making over
3000 appearances from the East Coast to the West
Coast, and throughout the Caribbean Islands. He is
married to Theresa. They have two boys, Joel age 24,
and Thomas, age 21. They live in Perrysville, Ohio.
With the
retirement of the Spencers in 1998, Wade continues
in the singing ministry as a soloist. In early 1998,
he recorded his first solo album entitled “Maiden
Voyage.” In January of 1999, he recorded and
released a second album entitled “My Heart” This
selection of songs included two written by Wade, one
for which the album was named, “My Heart” and
the second, “Emmaus.” His third album, “Grass
Covered Tracks,” includes a unique blend of
bluegrass songs, one of which, “Just A Prayer
Away,” was nominated for a Dove Award. In November
of 2002, Wade released a fourth album, “The Room,”
including “When I Crossed That River,” which
Wade wrote and recorded. His 30th album is entitled
“Long Black Train.”
In May of 2006
Wade released an album entitled “Stories.” This
album includes a song, “Joseph’s Story” that
Wade and his sister Geniece co-wrote. Wade is
currently working on his 7th solo album.
Wade has taken six
mission trips to Africa, singing in prisons,
orphanages and schools, seeing over 22,000 people
saved. Because the children of Africa have no toys
to play with, Wade was moved to have “Bible Balls”
made for them. The “Bible Balls” have John 3:16
printed on them to remind the children how much God
loves them. Wade has also made two mission trips to
Ukraine, singing in KGB prisons and orphanages. He
has seen many people saved in Ukraine as well. He
has recently returned from his 4th successful Uganda
and Rwanda trip, seeing many saved.
Wade’s solo
career has found him a successful schedule of
singing dates, taking him throughout the eastern and
mid-western states and back to the Bahamas. Wade has
also been a guest on the hunting show, “Show Me
Outdoor Adventures,” on the Fox Sports Channel
several times. Knowing that God is his source, he
looks forward to continuing to minister through song
and testimony wherever God leads.
