The message of Christ the risen Savior has been spread for over 2000 years and is still being spread today thru the message of song. It should be the goal of every Christian to spread the name of Jesus to a lost and dying world. This job is costly and takes a lot of dedication and only when we reach Heaven will we know the full impact of our efforts. Occasionally in our travels down here we get to reap the benefits of our labors as we see souls come forward to accept Christ as their own personal Savior. That certainly is the goal and intent of the Skyline Boys Quartet, a sincere, dedicated and ministry based group from Manassas, Va.

The group originated in 1995 when a group of dedicated Christian men gathered together in a church at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and at the beginning of the Skyline Drive. All the members had previously been part of other groups and were experienced in Southern Gospel Music and felt the calling of the Lord to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nation and through out the world or where ever the Lord may call. That night the Skyline Boys started on their journey. For the next five years there were many concerts, miles traveled and souls won for the Lord. The group was no stranger to radio, TV and concert appearances as they traveled the East Coast to the New England states and beyond.

However, in the fall of 2000 things changed and God had new plans. Dennis Powers of Manassas, Va., the baritone singer, and sound technician, and the present owner of the group, after much prayer and thought, decided to move forward with the group. The lead singer Walt Pittman from New Market, VA. is one of the original members of the Skyline Boys. He is a talented musician and is very much dedicated to the group, and to its success. Terry Vernon, also of Manassas, VA., became the new tenor for the group and dedicated himself to the groups efforts to be the best they could be. Jerry Kling of Luray, Va., our steel guitar player, bus driver and all around guy continued on with the group. They immediately started booking, singing and praying for a bass singer. God honored their prayers, and in the fall of 2001, the smooth bass voice of Michael Clinton of Joplin, Mo. was added to the group. In the spring of 2002, Terry had to leave the group because of work related issues. We all hated to see him leave, but God is always faithful for his work, so he sent the group a new and able tenor named, Allen Sipe from Sedalia, Mo. Now we had two men from the “show me state” singing the high’s and low’s for the group. Since Allen was an ordained Baptist minister, he felt that God wanted him back in full time ministry and decided to leave the group in the fall of 2002.

We started praying again and as God has shown, he will meet the needs of this group and anyone who will seek his face. We had to go to the great state of Kentucky for our current tenor. Chris Horne from Florence, Ky., possesses a true Southern Gospel tenor voice and is loved and recognized in the field of Southern Gospel Music as one of the Industries leading tenors.

In November of 2002 the Skyline Boys Quartet signed a two year recording contract with the Eddie Crook Co. and the MorningStar Record Label. We are happy and honored to be a part of the family of artist’s of the Eddie Crook Co. We pray that God will continue to bless their efforts to bring you the best in Southern Gospel Music.

It is a blessing and honor to travel many miles for the Lord and we continue to pray that God will bless our efforts as we lift up the King Of King’s and the Lord Of Lord’s in song. We are sure that this group of sincere dedicated Christian men will bless your heart’s and stir your emotions as they sing and testify to the glory of God.
