The New Calvary Echoes were
the original members of the family group know as,
"Conrad Cook and the Calvary Echoes." They sung as
a family for twelve years fulltime up until Conrad, the
leader of the group, went home to be with the Lord. When
they were singing together, they sung on many of the Gaither
Homecoming videos. They sung such songs as, "Hallelujah
to the Lamb," "Moses, Take Your Shoes Off,"
and "Standing On HolyGround." These were songs
that Conrad had penned. They also sung at Bill Gaither's
Praise Gatherings singing to thousands. Conrad was noted for
his song writing abilities. His songs have been sung by many
groups such as, "The Kingsmen, " "The
Trio," "Palmetto State Quartet," "Jesse
Dixon, " "Gold City," and "Paid In
Full" just to name a few. He was noted for writing such
songs as, "Is That the Old Ship of Zion, "
"The Glory Road," "Saints Will Rise,"
"When My Feet Touch the Streets of Gold," "My
Anchor Still Holds," and many, many more.
Since the passing of Conrad, the ministry now consists of
Conrad's wife Patty Cook, daughter Robyn Cook Adkins, and
son-in-law Cliff Adkins. They are known as the New Calvary
Echoes. They are still singing with that unique style that
they were always noted for but also singing the traditional
style of Southern Gospel too. While not only singing the
many songs that Conrad wrote, they are singing many of the
songs that Cliff has written also. Cliff has been writing
for the last seven years.
The last few songs that they released as singles for radio
were songs that the Lord gave to Cliff. Each one did well on
the charts. The songs were titled, "Until You Came
Along," "We're Not Gonna Do It," also made
popular by the Toney Brothers, "God Will Make
Away" and "Abraham." Cliff's still writing,
and the New Calvary Echoes sing a mixture of Conrad's songs
and Cliffs songs. The group has dedicated their ministry
unto the Lord while also remembering Conrad by keeping his
songs alive. They are on the Capitol label, and they have
their newest single out now on radio compilation titled,
"Moses, Take Your Shoes Off." This is
an older song that Conrad wrote years ago. You will want to
call your local Southern Gospel radio station and request
this song; it's sure to be a blessing to you. "Conrad
Cook and the Calvary Echoes," but now, "The New
Calvary Echoes," are noted for their versatility of
being able to sing Southern Gospel with their own unique
style; a style with soul and feeling that they were taught
by one of Gospel Music's legends the dearly beloved and
missed. "Conrad Cook"
The New Calvary Echoes know that they can do nothing without
God's Anointing. They give God all the praise and the glory
for allowing them the opportunity to sing and write gospel
music and to share the message of Jesus in song to a lost
and dying world. They love the calling that God has placed
upon their lives! God will always be first in their lives
and ministry, and with God leading the way they will keep on
singing with that unique style while keeping the family
tradition alive and well.

CONRAD COOK was born May 28th, 2005, 1936 at Crites,
WV. He grew up there and after graduation from Man
High School in Man, WV., Conrad went on to college and
graduated from West Virginia Tech with a BS and a BA degree
and later obtained a Masters degree in Music
Education. He became a band director on Logan County,
WV for 28 years. He formed his first quartet, which
was the Calvarymen Quartet in 1962.
While at WV Tech, he met Squire Parsons. They formed a
great friendship and were roommates at the college.
Conrad and Squire started singing together in the band room,
then later Squire joined the Calvarymen Quartet. They
sang together for several years then Squire left the group
to join the Kingsmen. Conrad then formed a family
group with his wife and daughter Robyn. That was the
beginning of Conrad Cook and the Calvary Echoes, which was
in 1976. There were several personnel changes over the
years until Robyn and Cliff Adkins met and married and that
was the group for the next 12 years until Conrad went on to
be with the Lord on June 29th, 2004.
Conrad was famous for such songs as: The Gloryroad, Is That
The Old Ship Of Zion, Saints Will Rise, My Anchor Still
Holds, Moses Take Your Shoes Off, and many more.
Conrad also received his Doctorate of Music Degree from
Emmanuel Baptist University in 2000. Since his death,
