The
Majestic Heights Quartet is a Tri-Cities, TN based Southern
Gospel Quartet. The group was formed in November 2003 when
Steve Lowe and Russell Bennett were both feeling that God
wanted to use their talents beyond the walls of their home
church. “Singing in a quartet has always been a dream of
mine,” says Lowe, the group’s bass singer. “Steve
and I had been involved in the music program at our home
church and sang together some,” begins Bennett, “So
when he invited me to sing lead, I was thrilled.”
From the start, The Majestic
Heights Quartet’s mission has been to “Proclaim God’s
Word in Song”. The current line up of the group is
rounded out with Marty Ricker singing tenor and Chip Thomason
filling the baritone spot. Each member contributes to the
working of the quartet aside from singing their part. Steve
handles the website and Russell creates the graphics for the
web, CD covers, etc. Marty, who is a local radio personality,
does a good amount of the emcee work and acts a resident joke
teller. Chip, a multi-talented musician and songwriter,
provides the quartet with custom tracks. Most importantly,
each member of The Majestic Heights Quartet brings with them a
love of God and Southern Gospel music. “God has a task
for each of us to fulfill. He has led me to this group of
dedicated men to help spread His word thru song that more
people will accept the forgiveness of our risen Savior and be
able to escape the eternal flames of hell.”
These men have stepped out
in faith concerning their ministry and God has continuously
supplied the needs of the quartet. “From equipment to
singers to venues, God has provided what we need, when we’ve
needed it,” states Bennett. speaking of God’s timing,
Majestic Heights Quartet completed their first CD entitled
“The Heavenly Parade” this past spring. This
recording is a collection of old standard Southern Gospel
songs with new arrangements. “The crowds really respond
to these old familiar classics, as well as some of the more
modern songs we perform,” comments Lowe, In a live
setting, audiences have been able to sing a long, clap, cry,
shout and have a good time in the Lord through the song
selections presented by the quartet. “We tell them to get
a red back church hymnal and sing along because the words
won’t be up on a screen, ” laughs Marty. If you attend
one of their services, plan to be minister to and entertained.
MHQ focuses their effort on
local churches of varying sizes, but have also appeared at
variety of venues. They have been the opening act for a
Bristol White Sox minor league baseball game, helped with
benefit causes such as local church and fire department fund
raisers, and been asked to wait before they start the next
song, so “we can get another cake walk in.” But no
matter what size the crowd the guys give it their all.
“We hope that a seed may be sown, even in the smallest
crowd. The most thrilling times are when someone comes to the
altar. I may be to get saved or maybe to lay a burden
down…no matter it is great to know that something that was
said or a lyric sung touched someone thought the moving of
