BOWLING
GREEN, KY. - If you met Gennie Basham, 49, who is
originally from Garden City Mich., who moved to
Bowling Green, 36 years ago to live with her parents
out on a 65 acre farm in Warren County, Ky., on the
streets today, you'd just think she's just another
ordinary woman with three grown children, a husband
and a job to boot. However, this is not your
ordinary woman. This lady is well known and liked as
a country gospel singer who is coming out with a
Compact Disc soon called, "Why Do We
Doubt"
"Every since I was a little girl I can recall
all of us kids sitting around, with Daddy playing a
homemade guitar, he made himself. My father loved
country, country gospel, and blue grass gospel music
before he passed away, and it was something we
always did together. So I guess you can say I was
born and bread into music", said Basham. Basham
said her greatest inspiration was her older sister,
Patty, who used to sing as a child.
When Gennie got older she switched to country music
and entered into several singing contests. Then
committed her life over to the Lord and began
singing gospel music all the time. She met her
husband Roger Basham at the age of 15 and he is her
greatest inspiration ever. Gennie has performed at
"Libby's", "Renfro Valley" and
all over in Bowling Green and South Central
Kentucky. Gennie has given singing lessons but said
because of her commitment to God chooses to sing for
the Lord now.
"When I'm singing for the Lord, if I can just
reach one lost soul through His precious anointing,
then I've done my job.
