 The
story began when Archie Dotson came to Brighton
Church of God, in Alabama, for a "Singin"
He was playing guitar and mandolin with a group of
singer musicians when he saw the church pianist,
Christine Hannah. It was love at first sight. Three
months later on May 13th, 1961, they stopped a
"Singing" long enough to get married.
This began a journey, to follow God's will and a
calling to sing. The Dotson Family's story is unique
and little did the family know how God would direct
their footsteps, or where He would lead them. All
they really knew, was that there was a song and a
dream in their heart. It was melody that started
early on, as loving, Godly parents introduced their
daughters Chrysta and Alicia to Southern Gospel
music. And so they set out, leaving behind them
their family, their friends, and everything they
knew to follow that calling. Their journey led them
to perform in many distant states, often with
very little money in their pockets, but with a smile
in their hearts. The group stayed this way until the
daughters left for college, then marriage.
Brand new doors continue to open for the Dotson
Family everyday. Today, The Dotson Family is made up
of Christine and Archie and adopted family members
Carol Hutto, Ken Dunkin and Darrell Hawkins. They
have been blessed to have such talented Christian
friends. God, no doubt put this group together for
His glory and purpose! We now offer Southern Gospel
with a touch of Bluegrass - Quartet Style!! They
praise the Lord with Christine at the piano, Darrell
at bass guitar and Archie playing everything he can
get his hands on. They sing the old gospel favorites
to perfection with perfect harmony and most of their
other songs are originals written by Archie Dotson
himself. Their popularity, is growing steadfastly
and winning the hears of Southern Gospel Music fans
all over the country.
God's desire for us, and our prayer for you, is that
God will use our music ministry to bring the light,
to be that reflection of God's light, and to share
the riches and freedom of God's love through Jesus
to each life we have the opportunity to touch.
Although the Dotson Family sings in various venues,
it's the local church that has been heartbeat of
there music ministry since the beginning. Pastor's
agree, that their ministry is perfectly suited for
the needs of their congregations. No matter what the
situation, or venue, the music ministry of the
Dotson Family has a reputation for winning hearts
and touching lives. Many miles traveled, and many
more to go, the Dotson Family is ready to continue
the journey set before them, singing all along the
way.
We are a part-time "regional" quartet
located in the Birmingham, Alabama area. WE
sing/perform primarily on Saturdays and Sundays. Our
travel is focused primarily in Alabama and the
states surrounding Alabama but that does not mean
that we will not travel further. Schedule The Dotson

service or any occasion. There is no charge or fee
for the group to participate in your special event.
