Just
a little history of "The Bartons".
Curt & Linda
Barton began their own gospel singing regional
traveling group in 1972. Traveling on weekends to
churches, civic organization events, home-comings,
etc....was such a wonderful blessing. When their
children became about the age of two, the children
both took to the stage, each accordingly.
Linda began
writing songs, plays, skits, and poetry when she was
still in high school, and has continued through the
years. When the group needed more music, Linda would
go to the drawing board and days, weeks, or months
later, a new song or songs were born.
In 2000, Linda had
to have brain surgery for a tumor that was centered
in the inner left ear. During the time of regaining
strength from this surgery, another problem arose.
It took 4 1/2 years to find that this was multiple
sclerosis.
Today Linda fights
MS on a daily basis. The disease has robbed her of
her love of traveling on weekends, singing with her
family, but not of the daily writing that has now
come to the forefront in her life. Dealing with
extreme body /muscle pain, seizures, and extreme
fatigue, Linda has vowed to keep pen and pad close
at hand. Today she does very little traveling, but
when she does, everyone that knows her, knows the
battle she faces when doing so. But she is
determined to continue on as much as possible.
Many of the songs
have come from the pain, the disappointments, the
broken dreams, and also from the care-giver
standpoint. Linda will tell you in a minute, that
"Had it not been for MS, these songs would not
have been written". "Sometimes we have to
experience, first hand, the disappointments of life,
to be able to write about them".
People have come
up to Linda and expressed their hardships and how
the songs have blessed them, because the songs talks
of the exact same honest feelings held inside of
them. But the songs will always express the answer,
and how God has it all under control, to trust, and
be lifted up. There's something about the music that
makes the burden lighter, and she feels the songs
are so important. If you are in the presence of Curt
or Linda for just a moment, you will hear them say,
"It's been worth it all, because we're closer
to God today, we're listening closer, and we know
He's taking care of everything". "Is the
journey hard at times? You bet.....but as we're
going through it, we're reminded of the battle just
before......and another song seems to come".
She points out....."going through it, not
living in it".
Never heard the
Bartons? You will. Listen close. Radio is playing
their music now. From their heart ......to the
world.....Curt & Linda Barton
